It is with immense pride and gratitude that we present the fiscal year 2024 Annual Report for Father Bill’s & MainSpring (FBMS). Our commitment to transforming hope into action has never been stronger as we reflect on a year that has been both challenging and rewarding. We are thrilled to share our progress and achievements as we continue our mission to end homelessness across Southern Massachusetts.
This past year, we reached remarkable milestones that reinforce our dedication to expanding housing resources and fostering community resilience. A major highlight was the opening of the Yawkey Housing Resource Center (HRC) in Quincy, a transformative space designed to provide critical services and support for those in need. In August 2023, we had the pleasure of hosting U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren at the Yawkey HRC, where her visit underscored the significance of this milestone and the impact we are making in the region.
Moreover, we welcomed the first residents of our 30 permanent supportive housing units adjacent to the HRC. The studio apartments provide our participants with a stable foundation for the future. The construction of the Smith Family Housing Resource Center in Brockton is nearing completion, and we anticipate move-in day in Spring 2025. This center promises to be a beacon of opportunity, offering vital resources for stable living.
Our successes this year are powered by the unwavering support of our community —donors, volunteers, partners, and advocates who share in our vision. Together, we are not just providing shelter; we are building a future where everyone has a place to call home.

Success Stories
Participant Profile: Jed Pike
At 66, Jed Pike’s life has been marked by resilience. After years of instability, including homelessness and health challenges, he found a turning point at Father Bill’s & MainSpring (FBMS). Originally from San Francisco, Jed battled financial struggles and alcohol dependency before moving to Massachusetts in 2008 for a fresh start. Despite working various jobs, aging and physical setbacks left him homeless once again—this time living in his car.
Everything changed in 2016 when Jed entered FBMS’s MainSpring shelter. A year later, he moved into permanent supportive housing and now lives at Stoughton House, a place he proudly calls home. “Here, they treat me like a person,” Jed says. Through FBMS, he’s found more than housing—he’s found dignity, community, and hope for the future.
Fanny’s Journey: A New Beginning for Her Family
In 2018, Fanny faced an overwhelming crisis—trapped in a toxic environment with her six-month-old son and no clear path forward. That changed when she found shelter and support at Father Bill’s & MainSpring (FBMS), a lifeline that helped her begin again. With the guidance of her case manager, Fanny worked tirelessly to rebuild her life, eventually securing a housing voucher—on her son’s first birthday—and moving into a stable home just three months later.
Determined to give her children a better future, Fanny participated in FBMS' WorkReady program and discovered a passion for helping others. Today, she works at one of FBMS’s family shelters in Brockton, balancing a career she loves with being a devoted mom of two.
“I am in a great place,” Fanny says. Her journey is a powerful reminder of how compassion and opportunity can lead to lasting change.

FBMS is committed to ending and preventing homelessness in Southern Massachusetts with a range of programs that provide emergency and permanent housing and help people obtain skills, jobs, housing, and supportive services. We help people who are struggling with homelessness or are at risk of homelessness achieve self-sufficiency.
