[QUINCY, Mass., November 28, 2024] – Father Bill’s & MainSpring (FBMS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to ending homelessness in Southern Massachusetts, celebrated Thanksgiving by providing 1,800 meals to individuals and families in need. The effort included in-person community meals at FBMS locations in Quincy and Brockton and meal deliveries to homes across the South Shore.

This milestone marks the largest single-day meal distribution in FBMS’s history, made possible by the support of more than 120 volunteers and the expertise of Hardy Catering in West Bridgewater, which prepared the Thanksgiving meals.

This year’s community meals were hosted at the Yawkey Housing Resource Center in Quincy and the MainSpring House emergency shelter in Brockton, where approximately 800 meals were provided in a warm, welcoming environment. In addition to the in-person meals, FBMS’s meal-delivery program ensured that 1,000 pre-packed traditional Thanksgiving dinners reached the homes of local individuals and families who otherwise would not have had a holiday meal. “Thanksgiving embodies the spirit of community, and we are honored to share this day with our neighbors,” said John Yazwinski, President & CEO of FBMS. “We’re incredibly grateful for the dedication of our volunteers, the generosity of our donors, and the hard work of our team.”

Donations to FBMS’s Thanksgiving Fund helped cover the added costs of this year’s meal service. Special contributions included pies donated by the Boston Bruins Foundation, Coldwell Banker and 3rd-grade students at East Elementary School in Hingham, whose efforts exemplify the power of collective generosity.
